- Rabindranath Tagore’s Raktakarabi is a timeless play which remains relevant and essential through every age and decade.
- Since 1924 his play has been a lyrical resistance against “an organised passion of greed that is stalking abroad in the name of European civilisation” to the current times where “the spirit of organisation, is not social in character, but utilitarian”. Tagore believed that “the personal man is not dead, only dominated by the organised man”.
- In this new interpretation Chaiti Ghoshal brings to life Nandini, “a real woman who knows that wealth and power are Maya, and that the highest expression of life is in love”.
Nandini’s resistance against the organised avarice of Jokhhopuri and it’s menacing shadow is a testament to the strength and empathy of the Human Spirit that we all carry and a rally to re-connect with our fellow beings.
