  • Bhuvan the central protagonist of the play is first seen on stage as he comes to wash his face and there he sees a person leap out from the Zamindar’s house. He hides to catch the person as he thinks the person is a thief. When Bhuvan catches the person audience gets to know that the person is “Bidhata Purush” (Lord who writes the future when a child is born). Bhuvan does not believe that its “Bidhata Purush” so he is very confused and asks him to rub off his ill fate. But “Bidhata Purush” says its not possible to do so. Before “Bidhata Purush” leaves the place, he says to Bhuvan he will be able to get a lunch like he has never eaten before. As “ Bidhata Purush” leaves, the clerk of the Zamindar comes and invites him to have a lunch in the Zamindar’s house because the Zamindar’s wife has given birth to a boy child. Bhuvan is very happy.
  • As Bhuvan is about to finish his lunch “Bidhata Purush” jumps into the bowl of sweet sup in the form of Frog to spoil his lunch. As he had earlier given a prophecy to Bhuvan that his lunch you be the best but it won’t end well there will be some problem. But Bhuvan cudn’t see it and swallows “Bhidhata Purush” present in the bowl. Now the Zamindar gets tensed because he had seen the frog jump into that bowl but cudn’t stop. Bhuvan cannot eat the left over sweets because of the interruption made by “Bidhata Purush”. Now the Frog starts conversation with Bhuvan from inside his stomach, where he pleads to release him from the stomach. But Bhuvan feels he has done a great job by swallowing the fortune writer. He is now stubborn about the fact that he won’t leave “Bhidhata Purush” what ever may happen. Goddess Lakhshmi and Goddess Saraswati comes from heaven to plead to Bhuvan so that he leaves “Bidhata Purush” from his stomach but Bhuvan does not listen to them. Finally Lord Shiva comes and tells Bhuvan to leave “Bidhata Purush” and Bhuvan listens to it because even he likes Lord Shiva alot and is his worshiper. Bhuvan leaves “Bidhata Purush”.
  • Bhuvan say that Man should make his own fortune why it should be in the hands of any God or Goddess. On this note lies the moral of the play and the playwright has so beautiful potrayed such a notion.
